The Barnabas Journey – A Ministry of Encouragement

A Mission Work of the Cody church of Christ in Cody, Wyoming

“The Barnabas Journey” is a Ministry of Encouragement with the purpose of assisting smaller churches of Christ in the Rocky Mountain West and the wonderful, faithful saints who serve within them.

The Barnabas Journey… a Kingdom Focused Ministry.

***

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

The Kingdom of God is truly worldwide and a universal, spiritual body purchased by the redeeming love of our Savior Jesus Christ.  However, within our own prosperous nation, there is a growing need to re-ignite the local church body, re-envision our methods of outreach, and re-evangelize these local communities who need to SEE the saving gospel working in our lives more then ever!!!

John and Jill Schadegg serve as full-time missionaries in this very exciting ministry dedicated to encouragement, love, and service.  This ministry works to assist smaller, and sometimes rural congregations in Rocky Mountain West during these changing and challenging times.  They serve in a variety of ways to benefit each congregation by working alongside those who normally cannot support a minister.

These two experienced servants focus their encouragement ministry on those who carry the responsibilities of the congregation.  They help smaller congregations renew a vision for the local body by developing friendship evangelism ministries, outreach ministries to the community, and share with them brotherhood resources that could benefit their church.

Our “What’s Next?” Ministry helps smaller-struggling congregations navigate difficult decisions, but more importantly, discuss the possibilities for future growth — seeing themselves more as a church-plant than a church in decline.

Sometimes those caring the workload of the church can feel burned-out.  I think we’ve all been there at one point or another.  Having someone come in and share the teaching and preaching load, while assisting in congregational responsibilities, can allow the folks to “catch their breath” and “renew their spirit”!!!

They have taken the place of a wonderful couple, Ed and Vickie Bass, who blazed this ministry path for the first 7 years of its inception.  Ed and Vickie  blessed, served and consulted with more than 50 congregations in Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, California, Montana, Nevada, Texas and Washington during that time.  John and Jill desire to continue this good work and maintain its high standard of service.
